A RESOLUTION HONORING D.R. DAVIS, CHANCERY CLERK OF PEARL RIVER COUNTY, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

WHEREAS, D.R. Davis has served as Chancery Clerk of Pearl River County, Mississippi, since 1980; and

WHEREAS, he has been very active in his community and has made contributions to his town, to his county and to his state; and

WHEREAS, more than anything else, he has made significant contributions to Pearl River Community College because of his love for and dedication to the school; and

WHEREAS, he was named the Pearl River Community College Alumnus of the Year; and

WHEREAS, a 1965 graduate of the college, he has taught there and served as statistician for the Wildcat football team, and also has been an analyst for the football radio broadcast for over 18 years; and

WHEREAS, he was instrumental in forming the college's Sports Hall of Fame, served several years as an officer of the Wildcat Booster Club, and also helped set up PRCC's distribution and marketing technology program, where he taught until taking office as chancery clerk; and

WHEREAS, D.R. Davis has served the citizens of Pearl River County both faithfully and well in his years as their chancery clerk; and

WHEREAS, it is his intention to retire at the end of his current term of office:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend D.R. Davis for his outstanding service to the public as the Chancery Clerk of Pearl River County since 1980, and congratulate him upon his retirement from that elective office, wishing him and his wife, Jo Laurin, all the best and the joys of this new phase of his life.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Davis.
